Parish Outing to York

Outward journey:

08:50 Meet at Stamford Station
09:00 Depart for Peterborough (standard class, not reserved)
09:15 Arrive at Peterborough
09:45 Depart for York (first class, coach L)
10:50 Arrive at York

Those visiting the city centre and Minster should leave the station by the main exit and turn left. Those visiting the National Railway Museum (free entry, so OK for a brief visit) can go via the direct exit from the station footbridge

Suggested timetable for the day in the city
  • 12:00 Wall walk
  • 13:00 Meet at The Maltings public house (Black Sheep), Tanner's Moat


Other options include the Jorvik Viking Centre and the Castle Museum


The section of the train journey on the East Coast Main Line is in FirstClass. Catering is included in the ticket price but is fairly minimalon Saturdays. You can probably expect coffee and cake on the outward journey and tea and cake on return. The FoodBar is also open if you wish to buy something in addition and is not far from our coach. 

We are required to travel together and on the booked train, so please make sure you are there! Railcard holder please bring your railcards!

18:20 Dinner at Melbourn Bros, depart for home when ready
